Guitar lessons Title

The guitar is one of the most popular musical instruments. It is extremely versatile and used in many varieties of music genres. The guitar has a hollow wooden body with six stretchy strings over it. Additionally, it features a round sound hole in the body. Without further ado, let’s discuss the following:

Getting started with guitar

You must be interested in learning to play guitar after enjoying its soothing tones on certain occasions. However, it has a stiff learning curve that can be quite complex and intimidating. There is no age limit on getting started with guitar. So here is all you need to do:

Determine a suitable learning instruction

So, which one would you prefer between learning guitar lessons on your own or looking for an instructor to take you through private guitar lessons? Whether you are leaning on your own or with an instructor, there are several options. Finding the best type of learning instruction is the first step in developing a long-term playing hobby.

Electric or acoustic?

This will be determined by the kind of music you want to play and your personal preference.

While acoustic and electric guitars are perfect in their own ways, I often recommend electric guitars to beginners due to the thinner, versatile strings. Additionally, guitarists with thin fingers prefer an electric guitar with a slim neck, which guarantees an easier grasp and shorter reach.

Conversely, learning acoustic guitar can be a cheaper investment since it doesn’t need additional equipment. Moreover, it eases a future move in electric guitar since the guitarist’s hands will already be adapted to heavy strings.

To choose well and save a lot of money on buying the right instrument, follow this course. If you just started, then the first choice is the cheapest instrument, which will lead to a bad experience and sound. Sooner or later, you will feel discomfort, and when you buy something better. What will most probably not fit you perfectly? The third choice is mostly the first good. To skip the beginner’s mistakes, follow this full course, which saves you money, time and brings professional guidance during the whole process of learning.

Determine the kind of strings that suits you

You’ll need to start with a lighter string gauge. Thinner strings generate less tension, making them suitable for beginners. I recommend strings with a gauge of .009 inches. 042 inches, or .010 inches to. 046 inches for electric guitarists.

Do you need any additional equipment?

Definitely Yes! You’ll need additional equipment to improve your skills and tone. As you gain normalcy as a guitarist, you can acquire other accessories to sharpen your tones. These accessories include picks, straps, and tuners.

Learn the Guitar chords

Learning guitar chords is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Therefore, if you want to be a guitar wizard, it’s worth learning about these chords:

A major

This is an easy chord to start with. A major is located on the second fret, allowing you to free up some of your fingers to mix it up. You only need to put your first finger on the 4th string, second finger on the 3rd string, and third finger on the 2nd string – all on the 2nd fret.

C major

This is one of the most used guitar chords. Major is a delicate combination of basic C, E, and G notes. The second and third fingers align along the sloppy pattern to get the Chord.

D major

D major is triangular. Use the first two fingers to play E and G on the 2nd fret. Later, using your third finger, hold the B string on the 3rd fret. This will provide an optimistic and heart-warming tone.

E major

This is a unique chord in that it needs all strings to play. In the third string, put your first finger on the 1st fret. On the fourth string, put your 3rd finger. On that spot, hold them all and strum cohesively.

E major

G major

This might be quite challenging compared to other chords, and it may be hard to navigate other chords after playing it. So, to achieve G major, place your first finger to the 2nd fret of the fourth string. Your second finger to the 3rd fret on the fifth string and lastly your third finger on the 3rd fret of the fifth string.

G major

A minor

If you can comfortably play E major, then a minor won’t be challenging. You simply need to move your finger up one string. A minor is very close to a major – move the B note from the 2nd fret to the first.

B minor

Transiting into barre chords is a huge step when mastering the guitar, and the B minor chord is a perfect place to start. With barre chords, you need to place your fingers across many strings at once, unlike using the tip of your finger to hold a specific note. So, to play B minor, place your finger across strings 1 to 5 on the 2nd fret.  Put your third finger on the 4th fret on the fourth string. Your fourth finger on the 4th fret of the third string. Your second finger lands on the 3rd fret of the second string. Lastly, strum the all without interfering with the sixth string.

C minor

This is a popular chord for emotional songs. C minor is one of the hardest chords as you’ll have to awkwardly twist your hands.  To achieve C minor chord, place your pointer finger barred on the 3rd fret from the first to fifth strings while laying your second finger on the second string (B) of the 4th fret. Lastly, place your third finger on the fourth string (D), and the fourth finger goes on the third string (G) – both on the 5th fret.

D minor

This is almost similar to D major. However, you’ll have to shift the high E from the 2nd fret to the 1st fret. To achieve a perfect D minor, you’ll need to mute the fifth and the sixth strings.

This is one of the high-valued guitar techniques. It is often used on single notes. Vibrato is a powerful technique and can suggest a specific music style. To perform Vibrato, fret the note, then push and pull the string up and down.

Hammer ons and pulls offs

The higher the Hammer ons, the higher the fluidity of your playing. With this, you can add little speed without the need to pick. To perform Hammer ons, pick the string and place the fretting hand index down the second fret.
